Greek basketball clubs plays in European competitions since 1957-58 when Panellinios took part in FIBA European Champions Cup. The basketball was the first team sport that the Greek teams won a cup. Peristeri has played in competitions of 1st and 3rd tier. Apollon Patras and Ionikos Neas Filadelfeias have played in competitions of 2nd and 3rd tier. Makedonikos has played in only competitions of 2nd tier and HAN Thessaloniki, Sporting, Near East, Ionikos Nikaias, Papagou, Irakleio, Olympia Larissa and Olympias Patras have played in only competitions of 3rd tier.
